2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport P250 S R-Dynamic for sale in Billings MT
Serving as Land Rover's entry-level SUV, the compact 2022 Discovery Sport supplies the off-roading and weather-beating capabilities for which the proud British brand is legendary. At the same time, it is an agreeable companion during the daily drive, offering plenty of comfort combined with a remarkably smooth ride. You can even get a third-row seat in a Discovery Sport, a feature this SUV's primary rivals don't offer.
This Land Rover is now 8 years old, though, and despite regular updates and refinements over the years it can't match newer models' superior balance of performance and fuel efficiency.
After several technological improvements in 2021, the Discovery Sport adds value in 2022. New standard equipment includes heated front seats, remote keyless entry, wireless smartphone charging and a power liftgate. All versions of the SUV are now available with optional roof rails and a surround-view camera system, and a new Third Row package combines a third-row seat with air vents for that location. Massaging front seats are no longer available.
One letdown for the Discovery Sport is underwhelming acceleration and fuel economy from its standard four-cylinder engine. Not only do the most popular models in the segment offer more powerful engine options, most are also more fuel-efficient. A handful of rivals offer plug-in hybrid powertrain upgrades as well. While the Discovery Sport's all-weather nature has some appeal, overall we think most small luxury SUV shoppers will be more satisfied with a Genesis GV70, Mercedes-Benz GLC or even one of Land Rover's other models, such as the Defender or larger Discovery.
